  • B. Umpire goes with ball, even into back-court

IV. COURT COVERAGE

  • A. LEAD OFFICIAL
    1. Position dependent upon last designated spot throw in
    2. Primary responsibility - free throw line amended to sideline opposite trail position
    3. Double coverage responsibility in the point
    4. Strong side movement
      • A. Move as ball moves into low post.
      • B. Peripheral view.
    5. Five (5) second counter
    6. Three (3) point attempts
      • A. Mirrors trade position
      • B. Free throw line extended opposite trail.
  • B. TRAIL OFFICIAL
    1. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY
      • A. All of the back-court
      • B. Free throw line extended to division line
      • C. Near free throw line to side line
      • D. Double coverage
  • C. TRAIL TO LEAD TRANSITION
    1. On rebound, do not turn back or back pedal
  • D. LEAD TO TRAIL TRANSITION
    1. Move wide in transition
  • E. SIDELINE COVERAGE
    1. Trail covers sideline as a result of last designated spot throw in
    2. Lead covers side line opposite Trail
    3. Out of bounds position:
    • LEAD - SIDELINE
    • TRAIL - ASSUMES LEAD MIRRORING NEW TRAIL
  • F. OUT OF BOUNDS
    1. Stop clock
    2. Point
    3. Color of team
  • G. BOX IN ENDLINE THROW IN
    1. Lead maintains position outside of thrower on all designated spot throw ins
    2. Trail covers sideline opposite designated spot throw in of lead
      • Trade may cross court to mirror throw in of lead
    3. 3. Chop clock with arm farthest from thrower in
  • H. WORKING OPPOSITE
    1. No longer relevant
    2. Whatever position you are in, maintain it until subsequent throw in or foul dictates a change
  • I. DESIGNATED THROW IN SPOT ON ENDLINE RESULTS WHEN A FOUL OR VIOLATION OCCURS CLOSEST TO ENDLINE
  • J. CALLING FOUL
    1. Point (Color & number)
    2. Freeze Eyes (Free official)
    3. Give free throw shooters number to partner
    4. Count basket
    5. Throw in spot
    6. All signals given at point of foul (both Federation and NCAA)
  • K. REPORTING FOUL
    1. Mid-court area. Visible area to make contact with scorer
    2. Color and number
    3. One (1) hand only
    4. Signal type of foul
    5. Number of free throws
    6. Observe benches
    7. Switch position on all fouls
  • L . SPECIAL FOULS
    1. Intentional, flagrant and technical (acquire necessary position to supervise players)
  • M. PRESS COVERAGE / DELAY COVERAGE
    1. Trail an the court
    2. Lead up sideline
  • N. FAST BREAK
    1. If new lead is late getting to end line, look through play at free throw line extended

V. TIMEOUTS

  • A. DO NOT GRANT UNTIL:
    1. Substitute, injured, disqualified player or players are replaced
    2. Partner completes foul reporting process at table
  • B. POSITIONS
    1. One official at throw in spot or free throw line
    2. One official at mid court
    3. NCAA - still located in the blocks
  • C. CONCLUSION OF THE TIMEOUT
    1. Substitute(s) not admitted after the first horn
    2. Count players
    3. Glance at the table
    4. slow whistle

VI. END OF GAME

  • A. APPROVE THE FINAL SCORE
